Rules for Overwriting Files

This option defines when a file may be overwritten by a file with the same name. The following settings are available:
  1. Never overwrite file
  2. Always overwrite file
  3. Overwrite file if modification date of file to be copied is more recent
  4. Overwrite file if modification date is different
  5. Overwrite file if file size is different
  6. Overwrite file if content is different
Additional rules (only available with rule 3 or 4):
  • or the content of the files is different
  • and the content of the files is different
  • or the file size is different
  • and the file size is different
Note: Content comparison settings can be defined under 'File Comparison Method'.

Copy files and folders that do not exist

Copies all files and folders that are not present in the opposite source or destination folder.

Copy only files with archive attribute set

Copies only files that have the archive attribute set. With the sub-option Filter files without archive attribute, you can specify that all files without this attribute are filtered.

Move source files to destination folder

Moves the source files to be copied into the destination folder. You can also specify whether empty folders in the source should be deleted:
  • Delete all folders in source that are empty after moving
  • Delete all folders in source that were already empty before moving

Treat files with exact modification time difference as equal

Ignores an exact time difference between the modification dates of two files. The difference can be defined in hours, minutes, and seconds. This option is especially useful for daylight saving time changes, where identical files may have different timestamps.

Treat files with differing modification time as equal

Ignores a time difference of up to 24 hours between the modification dates of two files. The difference can be defined in hours, minutes, and seconds. Recommended when copying between NTFS and FAT file systems, as timestamp deviations in the range of seconds may occur. For more information, refer to Microsoft.
